Jacqueline Synnott is particularly inspired by Asian Christian Art using vibrant colours, exotic patterns, sequins and other sparkling embellishments.
My work is influenced by traditional icons, Marian shrines and Asian representations of Catholic art. I was taught iconography on a retreat by a Benedictine nun, Sr. Petra Clare. I specialize in collage as well as mixed media art in various sizes. Those shown here are watercolours, acrylic, fine line pen, pencil sequins, etc. The works range from 16" x 12" to the miniature (art trader card) of 3 1/2" x 2 1/2". The small works are popular gifts and can be inserted into cards. I am particularly inspired by Asian Christian Art and this can be seen in my use of vibrant colours, exotic patterns, sequins and other sparkling embellishments.
